Personal Accountability and Responsibility: Actions not Words

Kirk believes people tell you who they are through their actions.  Being conservative has more to do with what you do than what you say.  As your representative, he will work to keep the touch of government as light as possible.  Regulations need to be limited and cannot restrict farms and businesses from competing in the world economy.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting

As Life Member of the NRA Kirk will support our second amendment gun rights.  Kirk also has an Idaho Lifetime Hunting License because it sends the message that he will always support the Idaho Fish & Game and the job they do managing Idaho’s wildlife.  However, he understands that these two are not related and that the discussion of gun rights should never be “casual”.  Our right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right and must be treated with the utmost respect.

Common Sense – Lower Taxes, Education, Life and Leadership

Kirk looks to provide leadership that is fair and honest.  Every voice has the right to be heard, together we decide how to move forward.  We all support lower taxes, education, state’s rights, good infrastructure and life.  However it is the intersection of needs vs. wants where the tough decisions are really made.  We do it with our families and our businesses.  Why wouldn’t we do it with our state government?  It is time to move away from “no” just because I said so and listen to everyone so we gather all the facts.  Kirk believes that is the job of an elected official.

Balancing Growth and Traditional Agriculture Equals Success

Balancing our growth while working to preserve our agricultural heritage is a requirement for Canyon County success.  District 11 is the heart of agricultural production here in the valley: Seeds, Grapes, Sugar Beets, Hops, Grain, Corn, Hay and Livestock.   We need a state government that continues to allow this valuable industry to flourish in the coming decades.  We can enjoy the economic benefits of growth without sacrificing our farm ground but that issue needs to be discussed now and protected for tomorrow.

Diversity isn’t Different: It is the most valuable asset we have

We are all different and equal.  That is what makes this country so great.  Kirk believes that protecting the rights of those less fortunate cannot be lost in prosperous times.  Regardless of our economic background, our ethnic origin or our religious beliefs we all need to be protected.  The rule of law needs to be balanced with the compassion of the heart.  We are “One Nation Under God” – it’s time to act like it!!
